Gęsiówka kaukaska to poduszkowa roślina, dorastająca do 10 cm. Cała roślina pokryta jest filcowatym owłosieniem. W zależności od odmiany: kwiaty, śnieżno- białe, kremowe, różowe lub karminowe miododajne kwiaty, zebrane są w groniaste kwiatostany, które można podziwiać od marca do kwietnia. Kwiaty są pojedyncze lub pełne. Kwitnąca roślina osiąga maksymalnie 15 cm wysokości. Roślinę można sadzić na rabatach, w ogródkach skalnych, na skarpach oraz na murkach i podniesionych zagonach. Doskonale nadaje się na obwódki, jak i do okrywania niewielkich powierzchni. Gęsiówka dobrze rośnie na przepuszczalnej, suchej i umiarkowanie wilgotnej glebie. Preferuje stanowiska zdecydowanie słoneczne. Jest podstawową wiosenną byliną obok żółtej smagliczki, różowego płomyka i fioletowego żagwinu.
